Clark County court records begin with the statewide Idaho iCourt Portal. The portal gives public access to trial court case status, Smart Search, Search Hearings, and Make Payments. Clark County does not publish a separate county-run case document portal, so iCourt is the first online screen for a public case lookup, while the Clerk of the District Court / County Clerk remains the local source for filed documents and certified copies.

The dashboard matters because it separates case lookup, hearing lookup, and payment tasks before a user reaches the Clark County Clerk for copies.
- Open the iCourt Portal and choose Smart Search for a case-status search.
- Enter a record number or a party name in last, first middle suffix format.
- Use Advanced Filtering Options when the name is common, the case type matters, or the filing date range is known.
- Filter by location for Clark County when the location list is available.
- Review the case number, parties, hearings, case status, and public events, then request documents from the courthouse kiosk or Clerk if the record itself is needed.
Portal use has practical limits. JavaScript and cookies must be enabled. The portal recommends current browsers and says Microsoft Edge or Mozilla Firefox work best. It also warns that payments are easier from a desktop or laptop, that CAPTCHA may appear every five minutes, and that clearing cache, cookies, browser history, and rebooting can help with error loops.
Clark County Court Record Fields
Smart Search accepts broad searches, but Clark County court record users get better results when the search fields match the case they are trying to find. A record number is strongest when it is known. A name search can work for parties, businesses, nicknames, or similar-sounding names, but broad name searches can return unrelated cases from other counties if the location filter is not used.

Types of Clark County Court Records
Idaho has a unified court system. Clark County cases are handled through the District Court and the Magistrate Division of the District Court. District judges handle felony criminal cases after bindover or indictment, higher-value civil cases, magistrate appeals, and general-jurisdiction matters. Magistrate judges handle many day-to-day court records, including traffic and infractions, misdemeanors, felony preliminary hearings, small claims, evictions, probate matters, and many family matters.
Searchers should not look for a separate county court, justice court, JP court, or municipal court for Clark County. Those labels can appear on sites for other states or other Clark Counties, but the Idaho structure is different. If a case is local to Clark County, the online path is iCourt and the local records path is the Clerk at the county courthouse.
- Civil court records can include complaints, petitions, answers, motions, orders, judgments, writs, and satisfaction documents.
- Criminal court records include complaints, informations, arraignment minutes, pleas, docket entries, motions, orders, dispositions, sentence terms, fines, and costs where public.
- Traffic and infraction records can show citations, charge details, pleas, hearing dates, dispositions, fines, failure-to-appear events, and payment status.
- Family, protection-order, and probate records may be searchable at a docket level, but sensitive filings may be restricted.
- Juvenile and adoption records are not ordinary public case files and should not be expected in a public Clark County court records search.
What Clark County Court Records Show
A public case screen is not always the same thing as the full file. iCourt may show enough information to confirm that a case exists, identify the case number, see public hearing settings, and check the general status. Filed pleadings, certified copies, older documents, exhibits, and some order copies may require the courthouse kiosk or a request to the Clerk where the case was filed.

Clark County Court Records Access
Idaho public-record access and court-record access work together, but they are not the same rule set. Idaho Code 74-102 states the public-record right to inspect and copy records unless an exemption applies. Court records also follow Idaho Court Administrative Rule 32, which governs judicial records, exemptions, sealing, redaction, and shielded records.

Rule 32 is central to Clark County court records because it explains why some case information can be public while other parts stay sealed, redacted, or exempt.
Clark County's Public Record Request form asks for name, address, phone, email, a description of the requested information, number of copies, signature, and date. The form says a county representative will contact the requester within three working days. Its fee worksheet lists the first 100 copies as free, additional copied pages at $0.10, recorded documents at $1.00, and staff time at $18 per hour after two free hours.
Note: iCourt is the public case-status channel, but courthouse kiosks and the Clerk handle many document-copy needs.
Restricted Clark County Records
Public access is not unlimited. iCourt states that sealed cases and information exempt under court order or ICAR 32 will not appear in public search results. It also says sealed event entries are not available for public inspection, while orders to seal that accompany a sealed record may remain public. That distinction matters when a search shows a sealing order but does not show the sealed document itself.
Juvenile records are more restricted than adult records, and juvenile expungement is addressed by Idaho Code 20-525A. Adoption proceedings are addressed by Idaho Code 16-1511 and should not be treated like ordinary public court records. Mental health material, personal identifiers, protected addresses, minor details, financial account numbers, and sealed filings may also be withheld or redacted.

Clark County Clerk Requests
For filed documents, certified copies, older case files, and records not shown in iCourt, contact the Clerk of the District Court / County Clerk. The Idaho judiciary's records guidance says general case information is available through iCourt, but records from a court case are obtained at a courthouse computer kiosk or by submitting a request to the clerk's office where the case was filed. Eligible officials may use iCourt Extended Access for official duties, but that path is not ordinary public browsing.

Older or non-digitized Clark County court records may require a local Clerk request first. If the Clerk no longer has a historic file or the request is archival, the Idaho State Archives is the state-level fallback for preserved county, city, sheriff, and court records.
